I spent yesterday afternoon in Chilton Foliat, first with the 'Eco Committee' of the village primary school discussing ways to protect our precious chalk streams, and then with a large group of residents and representatives from Thames Water, discussing the flooding in the village and the work TW are doing to protect homes. I was pleased to hear that after an exceptionally wet winter the water table is now dropping and TW is now able to remove the tanker which has been blocking the high street - and making a terrible noise - since March. Engineers assured us that in the coming month, now the water levels have fallen, they will carry out a CCTV survey of the local pipe system to see where water is entering the sewers, and make a plan to fix the cracks before next winter. I promise to hold them to account closely on this work.
