I have recently received a number of emails about the price increases faced by Thames Water customers. There seems to be some confusion around how much these will be.
I had understood that Ofwat had allowed Thames Water to increase bills from an average of £436 per year to £588 - an increase of 35 per cent - by 2029. However, I now find that my Constituents are receiving letter from Thames Water detailing increases of £19 per month or more depending on the size of your property. Clearly, there is a large disparity between these two figures.
I have written to Thames Water to ask them about this, and to find out why their proposed increases are so much larger than anticipated. When I receive a reply, I will update this post to reflect their answers.
