
Following the announcement last week that the Stonehenge tunnel project has been cancelled I have written to the Transport Secretary requesting an early meeting to discuss traffic in Wiltshire. This includes the vital need to address the problem of north-south heavy goods traffic through the county - a subject I have campaigned on for some years. The decision to scrap the A303 project must not mean no road improvements in Wiltshire - it must mean the opposite, the much-overdue work to reduce the impact of excessive traffic through the county.
