I am delighted that the Government has now agreed to incorporate death by dangerous cycling into the Criminal Justice Bill.
Since becoming MP in late 2019 I have written to the Government on numerous occasions and raised this topic in the House of Commons, on behalf of my constituent Peter Walker, whose wife Diana was killed by a cyclist who was travelling at speed through Pewsey.
The inclusion of death by dangerous cycling in the Criminal Justice Bill will ensure the penalties for cyclists who kill or seriously injure because of dangerous cycling, or who kill through careless cycling, are the same as for drivers and motorcyclists who do so.
