This November the UK will host the global climate change conference COP 26, in Glasgow. This is a hugely significant opportunity for the world's leaders to review our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and support the countries and communities most at risk from the effects of global warming.
Here in Wiltshire we know the benefits and the responsibilities that come with a beautiful, bountiful natural environment. We too have our part to play in reducing climate change and, I hope, in influencing the decision-makers in Glasgow.
With the support of my fellow Wiltshire MPs and of Wiltshire Council, I am hosting a virtual conference - the Wiltshire Climate Summit - on 19 February from 11-4pm. The conference will include a range of local and national speakers including the former President of COP26 (and my predecessor as Devizes MP) Claire Perry-O'Neill, and the Prime Minister's business envoy to COP26, Andrew Griffiths MP.
Attendance is open to all and I very much hope we will have a stimulating conference with some practical proposals that I can use in Parliament in the run-up to Glasgow.
Please register using this link. Further details, including the running order for the conference and how we will manage interactive sessions for participants, will follow in due course.
With best wishes
Danny
