Since the Autumn Budget I have been increasingly concerned about the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme coming to an end. I have been in contact with our local Bishops, vicars, churchwardens and constituents who shared my fears about the financial implications on our churches if the scheme were to come to an end.
I'm pleased to say that, having continued to raise this issue with the Government, and to discuss the impact locally (here and here), I have today received confirmation that the scheme will be extended. I have attached the letter I received from the Minister below this article.
This is very welcome news and will be vital for preserving our churches and heritage, and keeping them in place to serve our communities.
