It's great news that Wiltshire Police this week were taken out of 'special measures' - the state they entered under the previous leadership of the force. The new Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson and Chief Constable Catherine Roper have done great work prioritising the crime that blights the lives of Wiltshire residents and streamlining their internal procedures, including the previously very poor system for responding to enquiries and complaints from the public. Since the last election the Government has delivered its pledge on police numbers and we now have more than 200 new coppers in Wiltshire. We have seen real improvements on rural crime, organised crime, violence against women and girls, and car crime, and I look forward to working with them to ensure further improvements.
