I was pleased to join a large crowd of residents in Marlborough town hall yesterday evening, at the invitation of Caroline Thomas, Wiltshire councillor for Marlborough East and also the cabinet member for highways.
The meeting was chaired by Cllr James Shepherd and Cllr Jane Davies (Marlborough West) attended. Also present was John Derryman from the Office of the Police Commissioner who explained about measures to reduce speed on our roads, and officers from Wiltshire Council to discuss air pollution and congestion.
There is clearly a chronic problem with traffic getting in and out of Marlborough, and with speeding on our country roads. Both town and villages experience unacceptable volumes of huge HGVs. We discussed a long list of local trouble spots as well these strategic questions.
It was a constructive meeting and helped me identify the priorities that people wish me to keep campaigning on. My thanks to the organisers and to the public who attended.
