I asked a question in Parliament today about the blight of Heavy Goods traffic on our country roads, particularly the A338/A346 running from Tidworth through Burbage and Marlborough to Swindon. Too many traffic jams, too many accidents, and tragically too many deaths are caused by lorries that are simply too big, at least in the volumes we get, for this little road. Following the Minister's somewhat non-committal answer to my question I have written today to the Transport Minister asking for details on when we will hear the outcome of the Dorset Coast - M4 Transport Review, and whether the Government will review the regulation of HGVs using country A-roads as an alternative to the major routes they should be on.
