I was delighted to visit the old Pewsey Police Station last week and see the plans being developed by the Pewsey Community Land Trust. This will see half a dozen new homes created for local families at an affordable rent, bringing new life to the centre of the village - urgently needed to fill jobs and school places, and ensure the community can sustain itself for another generation. This project, which is still open to local people to input their ideas, is part of what I consider to be the best way forward for the necessary growth of rural housing in Wiltshire: small-scale projects, led by the community itself rather than developer plc's, to 'infill' existing sites within settlements rather than plonking large new estates on green fields at the edges. My thanks to the volunteers at PCLT and to everyone who has contributed this far. Do feed in your thoughts to [email protected]
