This morning I spoke with Dr Helen Osborn of Courtyard Surgery about the roll-out of coronavirus vaccines. There is an issue with her patients having to travel all the way to Wilton to get their jab, rather than to much-closer Devizes. This is because the Courtyard Surgery is part of a different Primary Care Network to the other GPs in the Devizes area, and each PCN has a single Designated Site where jabs happen. However, she is working with the CCG to arrange for her patients to get their jabs at the Devizes centre (the Corn Exchange) and I hope these arrangements will be in place soon.
Dr Osborn advised that there are less than 10 over-80s still to receive the vaccine in her patient list, and she is now moving on to arrange vaccinations for the next group, the over 75s. She has also administered a lot of vaccinations in care homes. I have also contacted Tracey Cox, Chief Executive of the BSW Clinical Commissioning Group (the local NHS) for an update on the vaccination programme locally and I will continue to monitor the roll-out closely.
I also spoke to the Vaccines Minister, Nadhim Zahawi MP, this afternoon and he confirmed significant increases in vaccine delivery are happening from day to day.
