I was disappointed to hear reports about continuing anti-social behaviour in Devizes over recent months and especially of residents at Caen Hill Gardens, who have experienced unacceptable problems with neighbours over the course of several years.
Anti-social behaviour is devastating to those residents affected by it – it is a crime which must be taken extremely seriously.
While I feel that Wiltshire Police and Aster Group could have acted more reacted more promptly and robustly earlier in this saga in response to residents’ concerns, it appears they are now addressing the issues in the proper way, and I am grateful for their cooperation in my ongoing conversations on this topic. I recognise that from residents' point of view there should be immediate action; rightly, however, the law must be followed properly, and I am confident this is now happening. I am also very grateful to Cllr Iain Wallis who has been working very constructively with residents, the police and Aster.
